How to Set Up Card Control
- Download the Red Wing CU Card Control app from Apple Store or Google Play
- Open the app and select New User
- Enter your 16-digit card number
- Validate your identity
- Enter your user name and password (the same credentials as online banking/mobile banking
- Then log in and begin customizing your options
Card Control Usage
Spending limits can be established to allow transactions up to a certain dollar value and decline transactions when amounts exceed pre-defined thresholds. Transactions can also be monitored or controlled for specific merchant categories such as gas, hotel, travel, restaurants, groceries, or electronic stores.
The My Location control can restrict transactions to merchants located with a certain range of each cardholder’s location (using the phone’s GPS); transactions requested outside of the specified range can be declined.
Card Control can send a real-time alert when a card is used, when a transaction is approved, when it exceeds any of the permitted use policies, or when a card transaction has been attempted but is declined.
Card Control also enables cardholders to conduct limited card-related transactions wherever they are, any time of the day, including balance inquiries and locating ATMs.
What types of phones are supported by Red Wing CU Card Control?
Card Control works with the most recent mobile operating software as well as two past generations of Android and iPhone devices.
If I receive a reissued or replacement card, will I have to update my cards within the application?
What happens if My Location is set but the phone is left at home? Will transactions get denied outside the My Location area?
Can I block all international transactions?
Will location controls, merchant controls, threshold controls and turning the card off impact previously authorized recurring transactions?

Red Wing Credit Union has teamed up with Apple Pay™ and Google Pay™. Now you can add your Red Wing Credit Union Visa Credit and/or Debit card to make purchases securely and privately.
Using Apple or Google Pay is safe. When you use the apps, your Red Wing CU card number is not stored on your phone or given to the merchant. A unique code is created specifically for that device called a token. You still enjoy all the same benefits and protections you are used to from your card.
It’s easy to get started! Simply add your Red Wing CU credit or debit card to your Apple Pay/Google Pay account with your camera or by entering it manually. You will be prompted to enter the security code found on the back of your card. A simple validation with Red Wing Credit Union may be required before the card is ready to use. Follow the information provided on your device to contact our office. Once you have completed these steps, you are ready to go!
It’s secure. If your mobile device is ever lost or stolen, the screen will be locked and is not accessible without the proper pin, pattern, or password. Another option is to download one of the many “find my phone” apps.
How to Use Apple Pay™
How to add a card
- Open the Wallet App
- Tap +
- Scan card to add
- Tap Next. Apple will verify your information either automatically or direct you to the credit union with a phone number.
How do I use Apple Pay?
- Look for the Pay Wave or Apply Pay symbol at checkout and hold your phone near the contactless reader.
- Place your finger on the Touch ID
- Keep your phone by the reader until it vibrates and beeps, indicating your payment was accepted.
How to Use Google Pay™
Google Pay requires Android OS 4.4 (KitKat) or higher. Google Pay is free to use, however, be aware that message and data rates may apply.
How to add a card
- Open the Google Pay app
- At the bottom right, tap MY CARDS
- At the bottom right, tap ADD +
- Tap ADD A CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD
- Use the camera to capture your card info or enter it manually.
- If you are asked to verify your payment method, choose a verification method from the list, most likely a call to the credit union (phone number provided)
How do I use Google Pay?
- With Google Pay, you can pay with our Android phone in stores where you see contactless terminals with either of these logos:
- You’ll need to turn on NFC to pay with contactless terminals. Check to see if it’s turned on in your phone’s settings app.
- You don’t need to open the Google pay app to make a payment, but you do need to have your phone screen on and your phone unlocked.
- Hold the back of your phone close to the terminal for a few seconds. If Google pay sends the payment info, you’ll see a blue check mark. If you don’t see one, hold your phone closer to the terminal and for a few extra seconds.
Where do I review charges and transaction history?
- Open the Google Pay App
- At the bottom right, tap MY CARDS
- Tap the card you used to pay
- Find and tap your transaction
How do I return a purchase?
To return something you bought with Google Pay, you’ll need your store receipt, just like you would for any other purchase. If the merchant asks you to swipe your card, simply hold the back of your phone to the contactless payment terminal.
For some returns, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your virtual account number. You can find your virtual account number on the card details screen in your Google Pay app.
