Receive Text Message Alerts

When a suspicious transaction is detected, we’ll send a text message alert from 37268 as long as we have your cell phone number on file. If you need to verify or update your cell phone number, give us a call at 651-388-7133.

You can opt out of this service at any time by replying “STOP” to the short code 37268.

How to Set Up Card Control

  • Download the Red Wing CU Card Control app from Apple Store or Google Play
  • Open the app and select New User
  • Enter your 16-digit card number
  • Validate your identity
  • Enter your user name and password (the same credentials as online banking/mobile banking
  • Then log in and begin customizing your options

Card Control Usage

Spending limits can be established to allow transactions up to a certain dollar value and decline transactions when amounts exceed pre-defined thresholds. Transactions can also be monitored or controlled for specific merchant categories such as gas, hotel, travel, restaurants, groceries, or electronic stores.

Location-based Controls

The My Location control can restrict transactions to merchants located with a certain range of each cardholder’s location (using the phone’s GPS); transactions requested outside of the specified range can be declined.

Interactive Alerts

Card Control can send a real-time alert when a card is used, when a transaction is approved, when it exceeds any of the permitted use policies, or when a card transaction has been attempted but is declined.

Financial Features

Card Control also enables cardholders to conduct limited card-related transactions wherever they are, any time of the day, including balance inquiries and locating ATMs.

What types of phones are supported by Red Wing CU Card Control?

Card Control works with the most recent mobile operating software as well as two past generations of Android and iPhone devices.

If I receive a reissued or replacement card, will I have to update my cards within the application?
If the new card is new, then yes, you must add the new card number to your profile. You must also unmanage the old card by accessing Manage Portfolio.
What happens if My Location is set but the phone is left at home? Will transactions get denied outside the My Location area?
Card Control performs a proximity check at the granularity of a Zip code or city, so if the merchant is close to home then the transactions will still go through.
Can I block all international transactions?
The credit union already blocks most international transactions. There are a few countries open for in store transactions, so yes you may block all international transactions. Please contact the credit union before traveling outside of the United States to verify if the country you are traveling to is open to complete international transactions.
Will location controls, merchant controls, threshold controls and turning the card off impact previously authorized recurring transactions?
Previously authorized recurrent payments will continue to process and will bypass the Card Control edit checks.
Does the app show rent transaction history?
Yes, the app shows the last 50 card-based transactions posted with the last 30 days.
Can I log into Red Wing CU's Mobile app from Card Control?
Yes, through Card Control via Red Wing CU Mobile App link you can single sign-on to your online banking.
Can multiple cards be linked to one Card Control?
Yes. Cardholders can register multiple Red Wing Credit Union cards within a single app.
What exactly is the range of the My Location controls and will this setting impact internet transactions?
The My Location controls and alerts will check to ensure the merchant location is within a 5-mile radius of the device set as primary with Card Control. These controls impact card present transactions only, therefore internet transactions are not impacted.
A region has been set on the map. Does this mean the card can only be used exactly in this region?
The region shows the approximate area where the cad can be used; the area must be greater than 5 square miles. Card Control can typically map the transaction down to a ZIP code or city. If the city or ZIP code of the merchant overlaps with the selected region in the map, then the transaction can still go through. There are instances where a merchant location cannot be mapped down to a ZIP code or city in which case Card Control will default to a state-level match.
Does Block International also block Internet Transactions?
No. The location controls are applicable to in-store transactions only, however the credit union blocks almost all international internet transactions. If you are needing to complete an internet international transaction, please contact the credit union office.
Are the alerts sent as email or push notification to the device?
Card Control alerts are sent as push notifications to the phone. The alerts also display under Messages in the App.
Can I unsubscribe from Card Control?
Yes, you can unsubscribe through the Card Control App via Manage Portfolio. To unsubscribe, uncheck all cards and accounts and tap OK. Please note, when unsubscribing from Card Control, all previously set alerts and controls are no longer in effect.

Google Pay and Apple Pay

Red Wing Credit Union has teamed up with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Now you can add your Red Wing Credit Union Visa Credit and/or Debit card to make purchases securely and privately.

Using Apple or Google Pay is safe. When you use the apps, your Red Wing CU card number is not stored on your phone or given to the merchant. A unique code is created specifically for that device called a token. You still enjoy all the same benefits and protections you are used to from your card.

It’s easy to get started! Simply add your Red Wing CU credit or debit car to your Apply Pay/Google Pay account with your camera or by entering it manually. You will be prompted to enter the security code found on the back of your card. A simple validation with Red Wing Credit Union may be required before the card is ready to use. Follow the information provided on your device to contact our office. Once you have completed these steps you are ready to go!

It’s secure. If your mobile device is ever lost or stolen, the screen will be locked and is not accessible without the proper pin, pattern, or password. Another option is to download one of the many “find my phone” apps.

How to Use Apple Pay™

Apple Pay requires an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.1 or later. Apple Pay is free to use, however, be aware that message and data rates may apply.

How to add a card

  • Open the Wallet App
  • Tap +
  • Scan card to add
  • Tap Next. Apple will verify your information either automatically or direct you to the credit union with a phone number.

How do I use Apple Pay?

  • Look for the Pay Wave or Apply Pay symbol at checkout and hold your phone near the contactless reader.
  • Place your finger on the Touch ID
  • Keep your phone by the reader until it vibrates and beeps, indicating your payment was accepted.

How to Use Google Pay™

Google Pay requires Android OS 4.4 (KitKat) or higher. Google Pay is free to use, however, be aware that message and data rates may apply.

How to add a card

  • Open the Google Pay app
  • At the bottom right, tap MY CARDS
  • At the bottom right, tap ADD +
  • Tap ADD A CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD
  • Use the camera to capture your card info or enter it manually.
  • If you are asked to verify your payment method, choose a verification method from the list, most likely a call to the credit union (phone number provided)

How do I use Google Pay?

  • With Google Pay, you can pay with our Android phone in stores where you see contactless terminals with either of these logos:
  • You’ll need to turn on NFC to pay with contactless terminals. Check to see if it’s turned on in your phone’s settings app.
  • You don’t need to open the Google pay app to make a payment, but you do need to have your phone screen on and your phone unlocked.
  • Hold the back of your phone close to the terminal for a few seconds. If Google pay sends the payment info, you’ll see a blue check mark. If you don’t see one, hold your phone closer to the terminal and for a few extra seconds.

Where do I review charges and transaction history?

  • Open the Google Pay App
  • At the bottom right, tap MY CARDS
  • Tap the card you used to pay
  • Find and tap your transaction

How do I return a purchase?
To return something you bought with Google Pay, you’ll need your store receipt, just like you would for any other purchase. If the merchant asks you to swipe your card, simply hold the back of your phone to the contactless payment terminal.

For some returns, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your virtual account number. You can find your virtual account number on the card details screen in your Google Pay app.
